General Assembly & Statutes

The General Assembly adopted the bylaws of the Academy of Sociology on July 17, 2017, in Mannheim. You can find the current version of the bylaws, as amended on January 13, 2022 here.

The General Assembly meets regularly every two years, usually in conjunction with the biannual Conference of the Academy of Sociology. Its main responsibilities include electing and discharging the Executive Board, passing resolutions on amendments to the bylaws, and making other important decisions regarding the activities of the Academy of Sociology. All full members present are eligible to vote.

The Academy currently has over 400 members.
